What to do when an emergency occurs while staying in KOR?
What to do when an emergency occurs?

While residing in South Korea, there is always a possibility that one may end up in an unexpected emergency situation of some sort. Therefore it is advised to find out in advance what one should do in case such a situation arises. By familiarizing oneself with different safety guidelines in advance, one will be able to act more calmly when faced with a dangerous situation in real life.

For emergency situations, call 119 first. The 119 rescue team will react quickly to the caller`s needs such as sending an ambulance and taking the patient to the nearest hospital. The 119 ambulance is free of charge. And when a foreigner calls 119, the staff connects the call with a translator of the Korea National Tourism Organization. Through a three way call with the translator and the staff, the foreigner caller can effectively get a respond to his/her needs.
But when you call 119 using a public telephone, first press the red color emergency button and after that call 119. The 119 service is available 24 hours, and it automatically identifies the caller`s location.
